Just a quick story about this lovely traditional home in Seattle. The new homeowner loved the traditional 1-1/4" louver shutters that had been installed in this dining room a few years back by the previous owners, but preferring a little more privacy she called Newport Custom Shutters wondering if we possibly match the shutters below with shutters for the upper portion. Thankfully we are a custom wood shop and can manufacture to match any style of previous shutters. Here is the finished result. An added bonus is now that the upper portion of the window is filled in with wood shutters the window becomes much more insulating in both winter and summer with the shutters closed!

Optimal design solution for french doors
Kitchens are often the center of the house. This kitchen has beautiful glass doors, but the challenge is to find a window covering that can fulfill many criteria. It should be easy to clean, not retain cooking odors, let in plenty of light, and also act as an excellent insulator against the heat and cold. A fine solution is found using hardwood shutters. These shutters are custom designed to suit the architecture and style of the room. An interesting design feature is the offset tilt rod that adjusts the angle of the louvers keeping the look very clean and streamlined. The size of the stiles are also custom-made to match the french doors. These are just some of the ideas our shutter designer can come up with to achieve an outcome that is both beautiful and practical.

Louver Doors in the Northwest
What a rewarding project this was! A hotel in downtown Seattle was ready for refurbishment. The owners wanted to start at the basement level and proceed floor by floor to renovate their hotel. Louver doors made out of English Walnut with a clear finish were specified. We looked at the plans and knew we could manufacture louver doors to their exact specifications. The quote was worked, hand-drawn detailed plans were submitted (the owner still likes to do them this way), and the doors were delivered on-time to be installed in December 2012 and look great! In the beginning I mentioned the project was rewarding because it was the first time to work with this particular builder, architect, and designer. The rewarding part comes when they entrust their vision to you and you are able to help make it happen.
